Men's Club 2020-2021

To everything there is a season and a time to every
purpose. The time has come for me to take my
leave as President of Beth Sholom Men's Club. I am
sincerely grateful to our congregation and the men
of BSMC for your support of me and our remarkable
organization. I am so thankful for the continued good
fortune of being surrounded by a truly dedicated
group of men. Thank you, Officers and Board of
Directors, for your commitment, dedication and
unending encouragement!

The success of BSMC was achieved, these past three
years, with the understanding of the ideals of the
Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs and by striving to
involve Jewish men in Jewish life. With the love and
support of my immediate past Presidents, mentors
and friends, who have graciously provided their
guidance during my tenure, I am confident we have
kept the flame alive. I look forward to an exciting year
ahead as we all start to come back together in person.
Yasher Koach to Mr. President, Art Lashin, as he once
more takes the helm to lead BSMC to the future!

Vice President Religious Life: Andy Shaw
Vice President Membership: Avi Mindlin
Vice-President Steward: Gary Goldberg
Vice President Communications: David Cohen
Vice-President Programming: Jerry Salem

Honorary President: Steven Pilchik

This past year we had to learn to adapt to new ways
to connect and contribute to Beth Sholom, the
community, and our club. Through it all, we thrived.
Our programming for the year was full and thanks
to the world of technology we stayed engaged. The
future is looking even brighter!

This has certainly been a challenging year. Last
summer we ventured inside for our third annual Trivia
night… A virtual Guys Night In, and we gambled the
odds with a number of Football Pools. The new season
is soon upon us – so sign up now! If you have any
questions, contact Ross Klinger at rklinger6@gmail.com.

We improvised Steak in the Sukkah with a Sukkah
in the Parking Lot and a Grab & Go Deli Dinner. We
presented a Welcome evening program where we
were introduced to Cantor Agar, we celebrated a
magical Hanukkah with Sisterhood and we didn't stop.
We participated in another successful World Wide
Wrap in February. And in the Spring we studied a little
Passover with Rabbi Glanzberg-Krainin and honored
our Norman H. Abrahamson Award recipient, Men's

Club Man of the Year, Avi Mindlin. With the help of
many congregants and young families, we packed and
delivered Yellow Candles – Thank you Saul Langsam
for 25 years of dedication to this essential Men's
Club program. We held a 2nd Guys Night In. We
closed out the year with dinner and a little comedy
and Men's Club Shabbat. Thank you to David Cohen
for organizing and coordinating our return to the
sanctuary with an upbeat program of services lead by
Men's Club.

With leadership and drive from Bob Lankin, Men's
Club volunteers and supports the Jewish inmates at
Phoenix Prison, and headed by Len Abrams and Al
First, we coordinate evening minyan Sunday through
Thursday nights every week of the year. We support
various charities, our community, and this year not
only sponsored Beth Sholom's Annual Gala, Men's
Club also financed the new sound system for the Main
Sanctuary! I am so proud of our club.

Mazel Tov to BSMC for being recognized as a Quality
Club for the ninth year in row!

I hope you will join us this year. We are working hard
to create and offer something for everyone. We are
preparing for Sukkah, Subs and Speaker with guest
speaker, Mike Sielski, on September!

I challenge you to try new things and suggest
events Beth Sholom Men's Club can bring to our
community. Now, more than ever, is a time to build
new relationships and strengthen existing ones. Please
take this opportunity to network and be more involved.

Beth Sholom Men's Club is a vital arm of our
synagogue. Our goal is to strengthen our Jewish
community by involving the entire Beth Sholom
Community in Jewish life. We welcome members to
share your ideas, encourage your participation and
offer you the opportunity to lead. Please reach out to
us at: mensclub@bethsholomcongregation.org, learn
about BSCM at www.bethsholomcongregation.org/
mens-club and speak with our members.

My wife Cheryl, and our sons Brian and Josh, join me
in wishing you and your family a healthy and happy
New Year. L'Shanah Tovah
