After many years of discussion, planning and collaboration, the high schools of Beth Sholom Congregation and Adath Jeshurun have formally become one school called the Jewish Teen Collaborative. It opened September 2011 with approximately 80 students in grades 7-10 and it provides multiple cutting edge and meaningful learning opportunities which nurture and inspire our teens.

JTC's mission is simple: to educate our teens as they develop their Jewish identity. Through a process of formal and experiential education, students will deepen their awareness and appreciation of Judaism and be better able to bring Jewish values and practice to their daily lives both now and in the future.

Teens spend Sunday mornings and Tuesday evenings learning with their peers in and out of the classroom through a combination of formal and informal education.

  • On Tuesday evenings, our teens participate in “Chat Room”, a half hour by grade that focuses on topics of current interest. The rest of the night students elect a class that relates to text, Hebrew and/or ritual and spirituality.
  • Sunday mornings begin with grade level core classes. The day continues with breakfast, a Tefillah experience, and an elective based on Jewish values.
  • The Sunday elective class uses text as a starting point that leads to active participation in social action projects, explorations, and more. Our teens are taught by teachers who love working with middle and high school students. We recognize how important it is for our teens to interact in a positive and nurturing Jewish environment.

Please see the sample schedule below.
