Special Needs

The Beth Sholom Preschool is a good resource for identifying and serving children with special needs.

Director:
The preschool director has a masters degree in Special Ed and a bachelor's degree in Early childhood education as well as several years experience at working with children with special needs.

Staff:
The staff are well versed in what skills and behaviors are developmentally appropriate for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. We are thus able to identify children that appear to have special needs and recommend resources for testing and therapy as well as classroom interventions.

Professionals:
We have worked with several special needs children who have needed an IEP (Individual Education Plan) as well as with their therapists (occupational, behavioral, speech, physical) to provide a supportive atmosphere for all outside professionals that need to help out with these children.

Team:
Our staff are part of the team, along with designated teachers and/or therapists and parents that help identify and design programs for the individuals' needs.

It is in the best interest of each child to provide the least restrictive environment. Therefore, we provide a preschool that will work with a few special needs children while providing a high quality and nurturing curriculum.
