Kindergarten Program

Pool Fun

Age: Five-years-old by December 1st
Classroom size: 12 children

Children participating in the Kindergarten program are part of the Montessori track. This state-licensed Kindergarten program focuses on preparing children for a first grade experience in either a traditional or Montessori school.

The Kindergarten students are part of a traditional Montessori multi-aged program in the morning, in keeping with the Montessori concept that no child is simply one age across all developmental realms. In the afternoon, Kindergarten children are separated and taught a curriculum based on state guidelines. Kindergarteners meet together to continue their core curriculum in science, literature, language, Geography and math, and Hebrew.

They also enjoy swim lessons at the Abington YMCA each Friday. This private swim class allows children to learn important skills, develop body strength and coordination, and have fun! The Kindergarten children participate in Hebrew enrichment, yoga, music, creative movement, knitting and cooking. A very special component of the Montessori Kindergarten is participation in year-long service projects such as planting, harvesting and selling flowers and vegetables to earn money for the Beth Sholom Mitzvah Garden, and enjoying monthly visits and activities with the residents of a local senior center as part of our Senior Partners program.
