The goals of the Beth Sholom religious school are to foster pride in Judaism, to provide the tools necessary for each child to explore his or her relationship with God, and to help each child understand the role of God, prayer, and Torah in the life of a Jew. We believe that children learn best from real life experiences and we are committed to providing opportunities for our students to discover his or her particular area of strength and use that strength to grow and flourish through imagination, musical expression, artistic creativity, social action, and more. As a Conservative synagogue, we have the added responsibility to foster a love of God and an appreciation for Judaism, its values and practices, and to impart knowledge and understanding of mitzvot according to the philosophy of the Conservative movement.

Our family Shabbat experience is a dynamic part of our kindergarten through the 10th grade program that allows our families to embrace Shabbat on a higher level. Our children become skilled at reading Hebrew, leading services, and reading Torah, while becoming knowledgeable about Jewish history, customs, rituals, and values. Beth Sholom proudly has one of the highest retention rates in the country for teenagers enrolling in post Bar/Bat Mitzvah Jewish studies.

    Aleph Consecration
To begin their formal Jewish education, Aleph students and their families celebrate Consecration together. The celebration consists of a beautiful Shabbat dinner, followed by the children's participation in the evening service.

Beth Sholom's Religious School was the first school to receive the Framework for Excellence designation from USCJ in 2001.

    Computer Lab
From preschool through high school, our children have access to our state-of-the-art computer lab. Preschool children use the lab to learn reading and math skills. Our religious school children use the computers for Hebrew reading and research. It is also used as a support tool for the many wonderful education, research, and social programs at Beth Sholom.
