Men's Club - Social and Athletics

Opening Brunch--Join us on Sunday, November 9th at 9:45 AM with our special guest speaker, Philadelphia 76ers President and General Manager, Ed Stefanski. Ed will evaluate the basketball talent of the 76ers, discuss his 20 year career as a basketball broadcast color analyst, and reminisce about his basketball college years at the University of Pennsylvania where he was a member of two NCAA Tournament teams. As a reminder, we are requesting Men’s Club member contributions of an amount you feel is appropriate. The cost of our delicious brunch for non-members of Men’s Club is $5.00. Checks should be made payable to Beth Sholom Men’s Club. For more details please contact Andy Black at 215-938-1885 or ablack@arlingtoncapital.com

Softball-- Our two Men’s Club sponsored softball teams are a group of well seasoned veterans that strive for success every year. Our teams have blazed a trail of glory leading the league in questionable athletic prowess, pulled muscles, and chutzpah. There are twenty teams in the Delaware Valley Synagogue League, representing synagogues and Jewish organizations located mostly in Eastern Montgomery County, Lower Bucks County and Northeast Philadelphia. The league plays modified slow pitch softball. Games are scheduled locally on weeknights (Monday through Thursday) from Passover to the end of July. Games start at 6 PM and usually last two hours. Though games can be highly competitive, rules are modified to meet safety requirements-no sliding into home plate for example. A single elimination tournament caps the season at the beginning of August. A fun time is our best reward. Players have a competitive but enjoyable experience, and judging from the "talent" on both Beth Sholom Men’s Club teams, one does not have to be a superstar. It’s not too early to make arrangements to participate in this healthy activity. Rookie players are always welcome.
