Beth Sholom will welcome Hazzan Arthur Shragg as the guest Hazzan for the High Holy days 5773. Hazzan Shragg was born and raised inMinneapolis, where he graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in Jewish Studies. Upon graduation, he spent a year in Jerusalem at the Jewish Theological Seminary’s program, Midreshet Y’rushalayim. He studied at the Rabbinical School of the JTS and transferred to the Cantors Institute where he was ordained. He has served congregations in Anaheim, Potomac, Cleveland, and Minneapolis. He is respected as a master teacher, vocal coach, and has performed in concert and on stage throughout the United States and in Israel. Hazzan Shragg is back in the Twin Cities with his wife, Judy. They are the proud parents of two children - Lior (a music percussion and jazz major in college) and Nina (a marching band, tennis and softball player in high school). Hazzan Shragg loves all kinds of music (he conducts, arranges, and plays guitar, piano, percussion and bass), enjoys honing his culinary skills, and is an avid Minnesota Vikings andTwins fan. He is honored and very excited to serve Beth Sholom for these High Holidays.
