Children are grouped by age (three year-old program and four-year old, or PreK program) for the teacher-guided, community-based instruction that is the basis for the Developmental Program at Beth Sholom Preschool. Socialization is a key component in this track. From circle time to snack time and everything in between, each child is an integral part of the group dynamic. We strive to build lasting friendships and mutual respect for each other and authority figures.
In the three year-old program, students continue their eductional journey by increasing their independence through hands-on learning. Letters are introduced, along with literacy-related activities, math, science and cooking. Our Pre-K program is designed to prepare each student for Kindergarden. Reading skills are introduced along with curriculum of literature, math, science and social studies.
In addition, the Developmental track provides students of diverse backrounds with a solid foundation of Jewish holidays, rituals and Shabbat. Unique to our program is Mitzvah Malkah, a Judaic curriculum rooted in the Jewish value, Learn and Do! Students take part in Mitzvah Malkah, music and physical education programming in addition to their daily lessons in the classroom.
